Overture and First Level | The goal was to create an upbeat "adventurous" song which would serve as both a brief overture as well as the music for the first level. | 04:31 |
Level 2 - "Contemplative" | In a departure from the upbeat overture, I went with a more "spacey" sound, using the smooth arpeggios to create a feeling of openness which the droning melodies and crisp interjections could float over. | 04:31 |
Level 3 - "Dark" | As a huge fan of ominous music in games, I had to throw this one in. A deep ostinato in the base provides an unsettling backdrop to the shimmering organ-like melody. | 04:31 |
Boss Battle | Being a huge fan of the Final Fantasy series, I appreciate the importance of strong boss music. In the case of Final Fantasy, some of the boss fights have the most memorable and cherished music in the game. Taking inspiration from all my gaming, I crafted this piece out of a steady 3+3+2 ostinato which allows the melodic instruments to sour with their various timbres over top of the agressive ostinato. | 04:31 |
When I decided to showcase some of my music on this site, I knew I wanted to create my own music player as an excercise. Currently the player is in its simplest form—to implement it, one must manually enter the Title, Description, and whatever other values they'd like to be included on the table. From there, they must also update the song values in the Javascript code so that the correct source is pulled for each song when they are clicked.
This is a work in progress as I plan on making the script a bit more dynamic. Eventually it will be more "plug and play" so to speak. I envision one point of entry for songs with all of their attributes entered into a hidden HTML element. The Javascript would then extract all the information from this element, then build the table and the objects necesarry to create the player.
